Black people are underrepresented in the Design and Tech industry. Women are also underrepresented. So where do Black women fit in?
Join us on Tuesday 18th October to hear from four women who are making strides in their career and paving the way for those to come. Chloé Watts, Tolani Adekoya, Yasmin Taylor and Sahara Jones will share their career stories and showcase their work.
Then we’ll gather around for a panel discussion which will be moderated by Marianne Olaleye, Content Lead at ustwo.
This event is open to all; whether you work in Design or Tech, you’re planning to enter the industry, or you want to hear the stories of Black women and how they’ve paved a way for themselves.
Meet the speakers
Chloé Watts is the Founder and CEO of chloédigital, the leading growth strategy & business development partner to creators building businesses with scale. Chloé, who has been featured in Business Insider, Marie Claire, & Vogue Business, is a self-taught coder who launched the business in 2014 when she saw a real need for content creators to have access to growth strategy, in order to accelerate the business behind the content. CD World, chloédigital’s Creator Growth Platform supports 900+ creators worldwide building scalable businesses.
Tolani Adekoya is a freelance user researcher with experience in both the public and private sector, working with companies such as Booking.com and HMRC. She believes that technology should be designed to positively impact humans and therefore guides organisations to enrich their customer experience and identify areas of opportunities for growth. She has previous experience in product management and business analysis and has worked with clients in various industries such as travel, fashion, healthcare, government and finance.
Yasmin Taylor aims to create a magical bridge between technology and sales by explaining it in layman’s terms. She’s currently consulting with a range of companies on how to seamlessly integrate Cloud and DevSecOps into everyday appliances and situations. Yasmin also manages a YouTube Channel where she builds robots and teaches others how to programme. With a work history in IT Project Management and Service Management, Yasmin has a passion for encouraging young women to pursue roles in STEM by sharing her own experience as a woman of colour navigating the tech world. Her main areas of expertise are AI, Robotics, Engineering, NLP and the craze over Chabots.
Sahara Jones is a London based Designer with experience in creating clean and functional designs for both print and digital platforms. She’s particularly passionate about type, layout and branding, and has honed her skills in these areas over the past 7+ years. Sahara is an energetic, people person who loves to learn and share knowledge.

17:30 – Welcome drinks and nibbles
A moment to chat, meet new people and connect over a drink and some puff puff (west African doughnuts) from Puff Puff Ministry.
18:10 – Show&Tell
Chloé, Tolani, Yasmin and Sahara will share their career journey in a PechaKucha format, which is a style of storytelling where each speaker shows 20 slides for 20 seconds of commentary each.
18:50 – Panel Discussion
Our event moderator, Marianne Olaleye, will sit with all speakers to discuss topics such as belonging, inclusivity, career advice for Black women and so much more!
19:10 – 19:30 – Q&A and Key Learnings
We’ll pass the mic to the audience (you!), so you can ask our panelists any questions. Then Marianne will wrap up the evening by sharing key learnings from the panel discussion.
