Join us for our GTA Black Women In Tech UK Chapter Event, which is on Career Opportunities & Transition Strategies in Tech Engineering.

The event aims to provide information about career opportunities and strategies to make a successful transition into the tech engineering field.

The event features experienced tech professionals and experts who will share their knowledge and insights on how to build a successful career in tech engineering.

Participants can expect to learn about the various career paths available in tech engineering, the skills and qualifications required for these roles, and how to make a smooth transition into the field.

We will also have the opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals and engage in discussions about current trends and challenges in the tech industry.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable insights, make connections, and take steps towards achieving your career goals.

About Mo

Mo Oyetunji is a Quality Engineer in the MedTech sector with a passion for empowering women to create the careers they desire and live purposeful lives. She speaks from personal experience, having transitioned into MedTech after working as a Materials & Corrosion Engineer in the oil and gas industry for 12 years.

Mo’s mission is to encourage women in STEM to step out of their comfort zones and “do it afraid.” She is also dedicated to teaching and inspiring children about STEM subjects, delivering talks and presentations on exciting technologies. As a board member of AFBE (Association of Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers) UK, Mo works to promote academic and professional excellence among students and professionals from ethnic minority backgrounds.

In addition to her work in engineering, Mo is the owner of Asa West, a UK-based fashion retailer established in 2017. She is also the founder of the “More Blessed to Give” charity, which provides outreach and support for homeless men, women, and children, as well as financial assistance for higher education in Nigeria.

Mo is the host of “The 360 Lady Podcast,” which inspires and equips women to become the highest and healthiest versions of themselves. She is married and currently resides in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Abotut Dorathy

Dorathy studied Information Technology Management for her Masters program and post. She hadn’t had any field experience in regards to tech engineering. 5 years later, She landed a job as a project manager which gave her the boost to pursue a career in tech. Transitioning into being a project manager was no small feat as it requires drive, relentless hours of study, and purposeful pursuit to success.

As a Lead Program Coordinator for an organization that nurtures women in tech, she has seen her skills spring up gradually and confidently, from Communication and interpersonal skills to her ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts as well as dedication to a diverse group of team members.

Global Tech Advocates Black Women In Tech is a not-for-profit global organisation, based in London, dedicated to building bridges of opportunities in tech by enabling black female talents to excel and companies to have access to black women of talent. We are a community of black women tech advocates of all levels and allies who support and empower diversity and inclusion.

Our mission is to inspire, support, and connect the tech sphere to allow more black women to excel and tech companies to perform better through diversity & inclusion.

About Our Monthly Events

GTA Black Women in Tech hosts monthly events to bring together business professionals, entrepreneurs and companies. The networking event is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded technology and digital businesses/individuals.

Please save those dates. Our events, virtual or in-house, are on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 18:00 to 20:00. Within our amazing community, we are fortunate to have many professionals willing to speak or host the events.
